Pinazepam

Indications/Uses

Anxiety states, psychoneurosis, tension, irritability, agitation, depressive illness (specially w/ reactive or neurotic basis), depression in the elderly in which there may be anxiety of psychiatric significance. Disease w/ psychosomatic factor (eg, resp disturbance, digestive symptoms, insomnia from anxiety, cardiocirculatory changes, neurocirculatory asthenia, pseudo-anginal chest pain). Chronic alcoholism & alcohol w/drawal. Coadjuvant in epilepsy treatment.

Dosage/Direction for Use

5 mg bd morning & evening (12 hr apart). Severe anxiety states May be increased to 20 mg daily as 2 cap of 5 mg bd morning & evening.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Myasthenia gravis.

Special Precautions

Avoid alcohol intake during treatment. May develop dependence tendency during long-term use in predisposed patients. Periodically examine BP, blood count & LFTs in prolonged treatment w/ high doses. May affect the ability to drive & operate machinery. Not to be used during the 1st 3 mth of pregnancy. Later stages of pregnancy. Lactation.
