Indications/Uses
Inflammatory & degenerative forms of rheumatism; RA, ankylosing spondylitis, OA & spondyloarthritis; painful syndromes of vertebral column, non-articular rheumatism, painful post-op/-traumatic inflammation & swelling; primary dysmenorrhoea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
Should be taken with food: Swallow whole w/ liqd, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Peptic ulcer; asthma, urticaria, acute rhinitis caused by ASA or other drugs w/ prostaglandin-synthetase inhibiting activity. Severe hepatic, renal & cardiac failure. Last trimester of pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Hypersensitivity reactions. Discontinue or w/draw use if rash, peptic ulceration or GI bleeding occurs. Not recommended in patients w/ established CV disease (CHF, established ischemic heart & peripheral arterial disease) or uncontrolled HTN or significant risk factors eg, HTN, hyperlipidaemia, DM, smoking. Symptoms indicative of GI disorder, history of GI ulceration, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, impaired cardiac function, patients on diuretics or recovery from major surgery. History of serious GI events & other risk factors associated w/ PUD eg, alcoholism, smoking, corticosteroid therapy. Increased risk of GI anastomotic leak. Monitor renal & hepatic function & blood counts on prolonged treatment. High-dose & long-term use. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Renal impairment. Severe hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not suitable for childn. Elderly or debilitated patients.
Adverse Reactions
Epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea; headache, dizziness or vertigo; rashes or skin eruptions; hair loss, bullous eruptions, erythema multiforme, SJS, TEN (Lyell's syndrome), photosensitivity.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc of lithium- or digoxin-containing prep. Increased side effect occurrence w/ diuretics. Inhibited platelet aggregation w/ high-dose diclofenac. Increased MTX blood conc & toxicity.
