Cefixime trihydrate
Indications/Uses
Susceptible infections including gonorrhea, otitis media, pharyngitis, lower resp tract infections & UTI.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 200-400 mg daily as single or in 2 divided doses. Uncomplicated gonorrhea 400 mg single dose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Do not give to patients w/ hypersensitivity to cefixime & other cephalosporins. Penicillin-sensitive patients & those w/ history of allergy.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions including skin rashes, urticaria, eosinophilia, fever, serum sickness-like reactions, anaphylaxis. +ve result to Coombs' test. Bleeding complications related to hypoprothrombinaemia &/or platelet dysfunction.
