STANDARDIZED SENNA CONCENTRATE (SENOKOT) tablet is a natural vegetable laxatives derived from the senna plant that has been standardized for predictable results. The active components responsible for its laxative effect in STANDARDIZED SENNA CONCENTRATE (SENOKOT) are senna glycosides or sennosides.
Glycosides are converted into aglycones through the enzymatic action of colonic bacteria, which induce colonic peristalsis and bowel evacuation.
This action is virtually colon-specific, since these compounds have little or no action in the stomach and small intestine.
Each tablet contains 187 mg Standardized Senna Concentrate equivalent to 8.77 mg Sennosides A and B or 374 mg Standardized Senna Concentrate equivalent to 17.54 mg Sennosides A and B.
