Pregnancy: Pregnancy Category X.
Rosuvastatin is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant. The drug may cause fetal harm. If a patient becomes pregnant while taking rosuvastatin, the patient should be apprised of the potential hazard to the fetus and the lack of known clinical benefit with continued rosuvastatin use during pregnancy.
Lactation: It is not known whether rosuvastatin is excreted in human milk. Because of the potential risk to breastfed infants, a decision should be made whether to discontinue breastfeeding or to discontinue the drug.
