Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Tranexamic Acid is an anti-fibrinolytic agent. It acts principally by inhibiting plasminogen activators.
Pharmacokinetics: Tranexamic Acid is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Up to about 30% of the dose by mouth and at least 90% of the dose by intravenous injection is reported to be excreted in the urine within 24 hours. It diffuses across the placenta.
