Saccharomyces boulardii
Indications/Uses
Adjuvant treatment of diarrhea in addition to rehydration & dietetic measures. Prophylaxis & treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap 1 or 2 cap once daily or bid. Powd for oral susp 1 or 2 sachet once daily or bid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Powd for oral susp: Mix the contents of the sachet in a little water or sweetened beverage & drink. May also be mixed w/ food or poured into feeding bottle. Do not mix w/ very hot (>50°C), iced or alcoholic drinks or food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ central venous catheter.
Special Precautions
Re-evaluate therapeutic approach if symptoms persist for >2 days. Does not replace rehydration. Do not open in the surroundings of patients w/ central venous catheter, to avoid colonization, especially hand-borne, of the catheter. Contraindicated in patients suffering from congenital galactosemia, glucose & galactose malabsorption or lactase deficiency syndrome, & in case of fructose intolerance (sachet). Avoid use during pregnancy & lactation.
