Testosterone undecanoate

Indications/Uses

Testosterone replacement therapy in male hypogonadal disorder caused by orchidectomy, testicular disorder, hypopituitarism, certain kind of infertility caused by abnormal spermatogenesis. Osteoporosis caused by inadequate androgen hormone.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Individualized dosage. Initially, 3-4 cap daily for 2-3 wk. Maintenance: 1-3 cap daily. Divide into 2 equal doses to be taken in the morning & evening. If not possible, take a larger dose in the morning.

Administration

Should be taken with food: Take after meal. Swallow w/ a little water.

Contraindications

Known or suspected prostatic or mammary carcinoma.

Special Precautions

Temporarily discontinue treatment if AR caused by androgen occur & prescribe small dosage after disappearance of reactions. Regularly examine for fluid & electrolyte retention in patients w/ CV disorders, renal & hepatic impairment, epilepsy, migraine & DM. Premature epiphyseal closure or precocious sexual development in prepubertal boys.

Adverse Reactions

Fluid & electrolyte retention; priapism & signs of excessive sexual stimulation; oligospermia, decreased ejaculatory vol. Prepubertal boys: Precocious sexual development, abnormal increased frequency of erections, phallic enlargement, premature epiphyseal closure.
