Cyclosporine
Indications/Uses
Increases tear production in patients w/ suppressed tear production due to ocular inflammation associated w/ keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye syndrome).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Instill 1 drop bid in each eye approx 12 hr apart.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Active ocular infections.
Special Precautions
History of recurrent herpes keratitis. Remove contact lens prior to administration & reinsert at least 15 min after administration. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation. Ped patients.
Adverse Reactions
Eye burning. Headache; eye irritation, pain, stinging, discharge & pruritus, foreign body sensation in eye, ocular/conjunctival hyperaemia, photophobia, visual disturbance (blurred vision), dry eye.
Drug Interactions
May alter metabolism w/ drugs affecting CYP 450 3A.
