Indications/Uses

Acute colds, paranasal sinusitis, syringitis, otitis media.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult drops Adult & childn >6 yr Instill 1-2 drop bd-tds into each nostril. Duration of treatment: 5-7 days. Children drops Childn 1-6 yr Instill 1-2 drop bd-tds daily into each nostril. Duration of treatment: 5-7 days. Baby drops 5 wk to 1 yr Instill 1-2 drop bd-tds into each nostril. Duration of treatment: 5-7 days. Newborn to 4 wk Instill 1 drop bd-tds into each nostril. Duration of treatment: 5-7 days.

Overdosage

View Iliadin overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Contains benzalkonium Cl as preservative; not to be used in known hypersensitivity to this substance. Rhinitis sicca. Patients treated w/ MAOIs & other potentially BP-increasing drugs. Increased IOP especially narrow-angle glaucoma. Severe CV disease (eg, CHD, HTN). Phaeochromocytoma. Metabolic disorders (eg, hyperthyroidism, DM, porphyria). Prostate hyperplasia. Adult drops: Childn <6 yr. Children drops: Childn <1 yr.

Special Precautions

Chronic rhinitis. Recommended dosage should not be exceeded. Effect may be attenuated w/ permanent use. Abuse may cause mucosal atrophy & reactive hyperaemia w/ rhinitis medicamentosa. Prolonged use may cause damage to the mucosal epithelium w/ inhibition of ciliary activity. May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Occasionally, nasal mucosa burning or dryness, sneezing.

Drug Interactions

Increased BP w/ TCAs or MAOIs during simultaneous or immediate use prior to Iliadin administration.
