Contents
Hydrocortisone.
Description
DermAid contains hydrocortisone dissolved for improved effectiveness. It is paraben-, lanolin- and chlorocresol-free and pH 5.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Preservative: Benzyl alcohol 3% w/w.
Action
Reduces inflammation and itching.
Indications/Uses
Use for relief of minor skin irritations, itching and rashes due to eczema, dermatitis, cosmetics and jewellery, itching genital and anal areas, sunburn.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Directions: Apply a small amount to affected skin 1-3 times daily.
Cleanse with a soap alternative as soap may irritate the skin.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to hydrocortisone.
Vaccinia, chickenpox, herpes and other viral infections, tuberculosis of the skin and syphilitic skin disorders.
Do not use hydrocortisone cream on the face or near the eyes, on the anal or genital region, or on broken skin.
Special Precautions
For external use only. Do not use in the eyes. Do not use for acne, under waterproof bandages or for more than 7 days unless recommended by a doctor. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
Avoid large amounts, occlusion and prolonged treatment.
Visual disturbance: If a patient presents with symptoms such as blurred vision or other visual disturbance, the patient should be considered for referral to an ophthalmologist for evaluation.
Use in Children: Do not use on children under 2 years old unless recommended by a doctor.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Consult a doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
Side Effects
After application, a slight stinging sensation may occasionally be noticed. This transient symptom is most likely to disappear after several applications.
Intolerance to the occlusive dressing (miliary eruptions, folliculitis) may be observed, as with other corticosteroids. Do not cover the area with plasters or dressing of any kind after application of hydrocortisone cream. The use of the steroid may also need to be reduced or discontinued, depending on the severity of the reaction.
Rash, itchy skin, swelling of the lips, eyes, tongue, or difficulty in breathing may be signs of allergic reaction. Stop using Hydrocortisone Cream immediately. 'Stretch marks' may appear, especially in skin folds such as the groin or armpits.
Blurred vision.
Caution For Usage
This tube contains a tamper evident seal for protection.
To open: Unscrew cap, peel off security seal.
Do not use if seal is broken.
Storage
Store below 25°C. Do not refrigerate.
