Sultamicillin tosylate
Indications/Uses
Infections where β-lactamase producing organisms might occur including uncomplicated gonorrhea, otitis media, resp tract infection & UTI.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 375 mg every 12 hr. Severe infections 750 mg every 12 hr. Severe soft tissue infections 750 mg tid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Constant observation of signs of overgrowth of nonsusceptible organisms. Periodically check for renal, hepatic & hematopoietic system dysfunction. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, loose stool. Nausea, vomiting, epigastric distress & abdominal pain/cramps. Rash & itching.
Drug Interactions
Decreased renal tubular secretion w/ probenecid. Mutually, may increase & prolong blood levels w/ ampicillin. Potential increased incidence of rashes w/ concurrent administration w/ allopurinol.
