Short-term treatment of constipation or conditions where regular bowel movement is needed especially in bedridden patients. Bowel cleansing agent before surgery or other radiological procedures.
ConstipationAdult & childn >10 yr 5-10 mg as single dose usually in the evening. Childn 4-10 yr 5 mg as single dose usually in the evening. Should be taken on as needed basis & not to be taken everyday for >5 days. Prep for surgical or radiological procedures 10-20 mg on the night before the procedure.
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush. Do not take w/in 1 hr of antacids, milk or PPIs.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or other symptoms of appendicitis or undiagnosed abdominal pain; intestinal obstruction or acute abdominal conditions that may require surgery; acute inflammatory bowel disease; severe dehydration.
