Initially 2 mg in 1 or 2 divided doses on day 1. May be increased to 4 mg in 1 or 2 divided doses on day 2 & subsequently adjusted further as required in increments & decrements of 1 or 2 mg daily.
Contraindicated in patients w/ pre-existing CNS depression or coma, bone marrow suppression, pheochromocytoma, or prolactin-dependent tumors. Caution or do not use at all in patients w/ impaired liver, kidney, CV, cerebrovascular & resp function, angle-closure glaucoma, history of jaundice, parkinsonism, DM, hypothyroidism, myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, prostatic hyperplasia or urinary retention. Care is required in patients w/ epilepsy or history of seizures. May affect ability to drive or operate machines, especially during the 1st few days of administration. Generally not recommended in late pregnancy. Not to be used during breastfeeding.
