Each tablet contains: Mefenamic Acid 500 mg.
For the treatment of mild to moderate severe somatic and neuritic pains such as headache, migraine, traumatic pain, post-partum pain, post-operative pains, dental pain and dysmenorrhea.
Take one (1) capsule every eight (8) hours. Preferably taken with food. Treatment should not be continued for longer than seven days.
Or as prescribed by the physician.
Mefenamic Acid is contraindicated in inflammatory bowel disease and in patients suffering from peptic and intestinal ulceration and in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhea or gas constipation, nausea vomiting, drowsiness and dizziness have been observed. Signs of hemolytic anemia should be watched in cases when the drug is taken for a prolonged period of time, as in all inhibitors of prostaglandin synthesis. Mefenamic acid can affect platelet function. In large doses, the drug may induced grand mal convulsions hence, it is suggested to avoid this in epileptics.
In patients suffering from dehydration and renal diseases, particularly the elderly. Concurrent therapy with other plasma protein binding drugs may decessitate a medication in dosage. In the case of anticoagulants, the dose of anticoagulant may need to be reduced. The safety of Mefenamic Acid in pregnancy and in children under 14 years of age has not been established.
Disorders or hepatic function have been observed, especially transient increases in serum transaminase levels. Occasionally mild fever, malaise and liver tenderness may occur. Gastrointestinal effects including nausea, anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea and aggravation of peptic ulcer may occur.
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
