Indications/Uses
Resp tract disorders associated w/ excessive viscous mucous. Management of paracetamol overdosage.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Mucolytic Adult & childn ≥8 yr 600 mg as single dose daily. Acute paracetamol poisoning & other treatment As prescribed by physician.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Stir until dissolved in warm water & drink immediately.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Asthmatic patients & those w/ history of PUD. Increased vigilance for untoward anaphylactoid reactions & other adverse effects in patients w/ cirrhosis. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Hypersensitivity reactions including bronchospasm, angioedema, rashes & pruritus; hypotension, or occasional HTN. Flushing, nausea & vomiting, fever, syncope, sweating, arthralgia, blurred vision, disturbances of liver function, acidosis, convulsions, & cardiac or resp arrest.
Drug Interactions
Physically incompatible w/ or may inactivate amphotericin B, ampicillin Na, erythromycin lactobionate & some tetracyclines.
