Silibinin-phospholipids (silibinin 29.7 to 36.3% & phosphatidylcholine 63.7 to 70.3%) 240 mg, thiamine mononitrate (vit B1) 6 mg, riboflavin (vit B2) 6 mg, pyridoxine HCl (vit B6) 6 mg, cyanocobalamin (vit B12) 6 mcg, nicotinic acid (vit B3) 10 mg, d-α-tocopheryl acetate (vit E) 12 mg, Ca pantothenate 10.8 mg, Zn (as Zn sulfate monohydrate) 10 mg
Indications/Uses
Adjunct in the management of liver disorders including acute & chronic viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, alcohol-related liver disease, liver damage from certain drugs (eg, phenothiazine & butyrophenone), fatty liver [eg, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)].
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, heartburn, headache. Silibinin-phosphatidylcholine: GI distress, dyspepsia, itching. Nicotinic acid: Fatigue, sore throat, dry hair/skin, tightness of the face, hives & blurred vision. Zn: Vomiting, diarrhea, GI discomfort, metallic taste, drowsiness.
Drug Interactions
Silibinin: May increase effect of clopidogrel, erythromycin, fexofenadine, nifedipine, tamoxifen & warfarin; may reduced effect of metronidazole, OCs; cholesterol-lowering effects w/ statins. Nicotinic acid: May decrease clearance w/ carbamazepine. Zn: May decrease absorption of bisphosphonates; additive effects w/ cholesterol medicines; inhibition of absorption w/ Cu or Fe; decrease absorption w/ quinolones, caffeine or tea; decrease effectiveness w/ tetracycline.
