Indications/Uses
Maintenance therapy for asthma & COPD.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 400 mg once daily. In certain cases, 400 mg bid is recommended based on clinical response.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Acute MI, hypotension. HTN, heart disease, hyperthyroidism, chronic right ventricular disease, CHF, liver/renal disease, peptic ulcer. Severe arrhythmias & seizure. Concomitant use w/ erythromycin, troleandomycin, lincomycin, allopurinol, cimetidine, propranolol, & antiflu vaccine. Phenytoin, other anticonvulsants & smoking. Lactation. Elderly.
Special Precautions
Acute episodes of bronchospasm. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, headache, irritability, insomnia, hyperglycemia, albuminuria.
Drug Interactions
Increased/decreased serum theophylline conc.
