Meclizine hydrochloride.
Description
Meclizine Hydrochloride (Bonamine) Chewable Tablet is a pale orange, mottled, round, biconvex tablet, plain on one side and scored on the other side with characteristic sweet yogurt-like flavor.
12.5 mg: Meclizine Hydrochloride (Bonamine) Chewable Tablet for Kids: Each chewable tablet contains 12.5 mg of Meclizine Hydrochloride.
25 mg: Meclizine Hydrochloride (Bonamine) Chewable Tablet for Adults: Each chewable tablet contains 25 mg of Meclizine Hydrochloride.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Glycine, Corn Starch, Carmellose Calcium, Flavor, Magnesium Stearate, Sodium Saccharin, Colorant, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, and Purified Water.
Indications/Uses
Meclizine Hydrochloride (Bonamine) Chewable Tablet is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, or dizziness associated with motion sickness.
Dosage/Direction for Use
A daily dose should be taken one hour before travel starts for 24-hr protection.
The tablet may be chewed and swallowed with or without water or swallowed whole with water.

Missed dose: Do not double the dose. If the patient misses a dose, just take the next dose as scheduled (i.e., once a day) if needed to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, or dizziness associated with motion sickness.
Overdosage
Overdose of Meclizine may manifest as follows: Drowsiness; Dry mouth; Fatigue; Rarely, blurred vision.
When the patient has taken more than the recommended dose: If more than the recommended dose has been given, consult a health professional immediately. Do not exceed recommended dosage.
Contraindications
A known hypersensitivity to Meclizine or any ingredient in this product.
Patients taking monoamine oxidase inhibitor antidepressant.
Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers.
Special Precautions
This drug may cause drowsiness. Take due precautions against driving a car or operating dangerous machinery.
A doctor must always be consulted before giving Meclizine especially if the patient is taking other medications (antidepressant) and patients who are alcoholics or who regularly ingest alcohol in excess before giving this drug.
When to consult the doctor: Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers, patients with increased pressure in the eye, asthma, emphysema, chronic pulmonary disease, difficulty in breathing and those with difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland and those taking sedatives and tranquilizers should take Meclizine only under the direction of a doctor.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, fatigue, dry mouth, constipation, headache, stomach upset, and rarely blurred vision have been reported with the use of Meclizine.
Drug Interactions
Avoid alcohol, sedatives, anti-allergic drugs and tranquilizers while taking Meclizine as this may increase the drowsiness effect.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
