Indications and Dosage

Oral
Irritable bowel syndrome

Adult: 1 cap (0.2 mL) tid; may increase to 2 caps (0.4 mL) tid as necessary. Doses may be given for up to 2-3 months.

Special Precautions

Patient with heartburn; blood from the bowel, feeling of sickness or vomiting, loss of appetite or weight, paleness or tiredness, severe constipation, fever, abnormal vaginal bleeding or discharge, difficulty or pain in passing urine, gallstones. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy and lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Gastrointestinal disorders: Burining sensation, anorectal discomfort, dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux, nausea, vomiting.
Immune system disorders: Hypersensitivity.

Overdosage

Symptoms: Severe nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, vertigo, ataxia, drowsiness, coma. Management: Symptomatic and supportive treatment. Perform gastric lavage to empty the stomach.

Action

Description:
Mechanism of Action: ppermint oil is an aromatic carminative which has inhibitory effect on the gastrointestinal smooth muscle. It acts by interfering with the mobilisation of Ca ions.

Storage

Store below 25°C. Protect from light.
