Peppermint oil is used to treat spasms of the stomach or intestine, particularly those that are associated with irritable bowel syndrome (a long-term disorder of the digestive system that involves a group of symptoms such as abdominal cramps, bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea).
Take Peppermint oil exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Take this medicine on an empty stomach. Try to take it at the same time each day.
Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water.
You may stop taking this medicine when you have no more symptoms.
If you miss a dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- heartburn (burning pain in your chest caused by food or acid from your stomach that backs up into your mouth)
- bloody stool
- feeling sick
- loss of appetite or weight
- severe constipation
- unusual vaginal bleeding or discharge
- gallstones (abnormal stone-like mass formation in the gall bladder)
- liver disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Keep your appointments with your doctor. Your doctor needs to monitor your condition and check your response to the medication regularly.
Peppermint oil may cause any of the following side effects: nausea, vomiting, and indigestion.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
