Known hypersensitivity to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, other sulphonamide derived medicinal products, or to any of the excipients of Co-Diovan.
Pregnancy (see Use in Pregnancy & Lactation).
Severe hepatic impairment, biliary cirrhosis and cholestasis.
Anuria, severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 mL/min).
Refractory hypokalemia, hyponatremia, hypercalcemia, and symptomatic hyperuricemia.
Concomitant use of angiotensin receptor antagonists (ARBs) - including valsartan- or angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) with aliskiren in patients with Type 2 diabetes (see Dual blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin-System (RAS) with ARBs, ACEIs, or aliskiren under Interactions).
