Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult & childn >16 yr 1-2 tab every 4-6 hr. Max: 8 tab daily.

Overdosage

View Ulcetra overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to tramadol, paracetamol or opioids. Acute intoxication w/ alcohol, hypnotics, narcotics, centrally-acting analgesics, opioids or psychotropic drugs.

Special Precautions

Avoid abrupt discontinuation. Not for use in opioid-dependent patients. Seizure risk used alone or in concomitant use w/ SSRI, TCAs & other tricyclic compds or other opioids, MAOI, neuroleptics or other drugs that lower seizure threshold. Risk of convulsion in patients w/ epilepsy, history of seizures, risk of seizure (eg, head trauma, metabolic disorders, alcohol & drug w/drawal, CNS infections). Patients at risk of resp depression, known CYP2D6 ultra-rapid metabolizers. Patients receiving CNS depressants (eg, alcohol, opioids, anesth, narcotics, phenothiazines, tranquilizers or sedatives) increase risk of CNS & resp depression. Increased ICP or head trauma. May impair mental or physical abilities for performance of hazardous tasks eg, driving a car or operating machinery. Pregnancy. Not recommended in breastfeeding women.

Adverse Reactions

Nausea, vomiting, drowsiness. Asthenia, fatigue, hot flushes; headache, tremor; abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence, dry mouth; anorexia, anxiety, confusion, euphoria, insomnia, nervousness; pruritus, rash, increased sweating.

Drug Interactions

MAOI & SSRI. Increased tramadol metabolism w/ carbamazepine. Increased tramadol conc w/ quinidine. Increased INR in some patients w/ warfarin-like compds. Inhibition of tramadol metabolism w/ CYP2D6 inhibitors eg, fluoxetine, paroxetine, amitriptyline.
