TabAdult 1 tab 3 times daily. IV injDelayed gastric emptyingAdult 10 mg over 1-2 min. Childn 6-14 yr 2.5-5 mg, <6 yr 0.1 mg/kg. Prevention of nausea & vomiting associated w/ chemotherapy 1-2 mg/kg over a period of not <15 min, given 30 min prior to chemotherapy. Repeat every 2 hr for 2 doses, then every 3 hr for 3 doses & not >10 mg/kg in each 24 hr. Prevention of post-op nausea & vomiting 10-20 mg IM, given near the end of surgery over 1-2 min period.
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals or at bedtime.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity or intolerance. Not to be used in epileptic or patients receiving other drugs which are likely to cause extrapyramidal reactions. Obstruction or perforation in the presence of GI hemorrhage. Pheochromocytoma.
Concomitant use w/ other drugs that can also cause extrapyramidal reactions, eg, phenothiazines. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Renal failure. Not to be used during the 1st trimester of pregnancy. Nursing mothers. Tab: Not recommended to be used concomitantly w/ anticholinergic drugs.
