Contents
Al hydroxide 200 mg, Mg hydroxide 200 mg, simethicone 80 mg
Indications/Uses
Antacid to reduce gastric hyperacidity, gastritis, peptic ulcer, duodenal ulcer, w/ symptoms eg, nausea, gastric & stomach pain, GI discomfort due to entrapped gas, upset stomach.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 1-2 tab 3-4 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr ½-1 tab 3-4 times daily. Susp Adult 5-10 mL 3-4 times daily. Childn 6-12 yr 2.5-5 mL 3-4 times daily.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals & before bedtime. Chewable tab: Chew well before swallowing.
Contraindications
Not to be administered in patients w/ severe renal impairment since hypermagnesemia may develop.
Special Precautions
Not recommended for long-term (over 2 wk) therapy. Dosage should be given at 1-2 hr intervals if co-administered w/ cimetidine or tetracycline. Patients w/ low-P diet & long-term therapy; may reduce blood P level. Not recommended in childn <6 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
Drug Interactions
Susp: Reduced absorption of cimetidine or tetracycline.
