Mupirocin
Indications/Uses
Skin infections eg, folliculitis, impetigo, furunculosis. Other skin infections caused by various bacteria including Staphylococci, Streptococci & E. coli.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply to infected area bd to tds. Treated area can be covered w/ plaster or suitable dressing. Do not use for >10 days.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Risk of severe skin reactions or allergies. Not suitable for use in eyes, nose or around IV cannula sites. Wash thoroughly w/ water in case of accidental contact w/ eyes. Thrush may develop if used for a long time. Do not mix w/ any other external cream or oint medicines on the infected area. Contains polyethylene glycol. Caution before using in patients w/ kidney problems or patients w/ large areas of open wounds or damaged skin to be treated. Pregnancy & lactation. Thoroughly wash off prior to breastfeeding if a cracked nipple is being treated.
