Indications/Uses

Moderate to severe pain.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IM/IV 50-100 mg every 4-6 hr. Post-op pain Initially 100 mg followed by 50 mg every 10-20 min, & if necessary to a total max of 250 mg in the 1st hr. Thereafter, 50-100 mg every 4-6 hr up to total daily dose of 600 mg.

Contraindications

Acute intoxication w/ alcohol, hypnotic, analgesic or other CNS-acting drug.

Special Precautions

Patients w/ increased reactivity to opioids; convulsions. Pregnancy & lactation.

Adverse Reactions

Resp depression, constipation, hypotension, HTN.
