Contraindications
Patients who are hypotensive; w/ peripheral or mesenteric thrombosis; profound hypoxia or hypercarbia. Concomitant use w/ cyclopropane & halothane anesth.
Sulfite sensitivity in asthmatic patients. Occlusive vascular disease; preexisting hyperthyroidism or HTN. Risk of ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation during cyclopropane & halothane anesth. Monitor BP every 2 min from time of administration until desired BP is obtained, then every 5 min thereafter to avoid HTN. Avoid catheter tie-in technique; extravasation into tissues. Concomitant use w/ MAOIs, triptyline- or imipramine-type antidepressants. Hepatic & renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn. Not to be used into leg veins of elderly.
C01CA03 - norepinephrine ; Belongs to the class of adrenergic and dopaminergic cardiac stimulants excluding glycosides. Used in the treatment of hypotension.
