Resp syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine (recombinant, adjuvanted)
Indications/Uses
Active immunisation for prevention of lower resp tract disease (LRTD) caused by RSV in adults ≥60 yr or adults 50-59 yr who are at increased risk for RSV disease.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM Single 0.5 mL dose, preferably in deltoid muscle.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Anaphylactic events following administration. Not to be administered intravascularly or intradermally. Postpone vaccination in individuals suffering from acute severe febrile illness. Not to defer vaccination in the presence of minor infection eg, cold. Anxiety-related reactions eg, vasovagal reactions (syncope), hyperventilation or stress‐related reactions; fainting. Patients w/ thrombocytopenia or any coagulation disorder. May reduce immune response in patients receiving immunosuppressive treatment or w/ immunodeficiency. Administer at different inj sites if to be given at the same time as another inj vaccine. May temporarily affect ability to drive or use machines. Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Headache; myalgia, arthralgia; inj site pain, fatigue. Inj site erythema & swelling, fever, chills.
Drug Interactions
Concomitant use w/ other vaccines other than inactivated seasonal quadrivalent flu vaccines.
