Loratadine.
Description
Tablet: Each tablet contains Loratadine 10 mg.
Syrup: Each 5 ml contains Loratadine 5 mg.
Indications/Uses
For the relief of symptoms associated with Allergic Rhinitis eg, sneezing, nasal discharge & itching, as well as ocular itching & burning. Chronic urticaria & other allergic dermatologic disorders.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tablet: Adult and children over 12 years old take 1 tablet once daily.
Syrup: Children 2-5 years (Body weight less than 30 kg): 1 teaspoonful once a day.
Children 6-12 years (Body weight more than 30 kg): 2 teaspoonful once a day.
Adults and Children over 12 years: 2 teaspoonful once a day.
Contraindications
Patients who have shown hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to any of the components of Allernix.
Special Precautions
Patients with severe liver impairment should be administered a lower initial dose because they may have reduced clearance of loratadine.
Tablet: an initial dose of 5 mg once daily, or 10 mg every other day is recommended.
Syrup: an initial dose of 2.5 mg once daily, or 5 mg every other day is recommended.
Adverse Reactions
Most commonly reported adverse effects include fatigue, headache, somnolence, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disorders eg, nausea, gastritis, and also allergic symptoms eg, rash.
Drug Interactions
May increase plasma concentrations with ketoconazole, fluconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, cimetidine.
Storage
Store at temperature below 30°C. Protect from light.
Tablet: Protect from moisture.
