Susceptible infections, particularly in ENT, bronchopulmonary, genital (excluding gonococcal infections) & skin infections.

Should be taken on an empty stomach.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity. Concomitant use w/ ergot derivatives.

Special Precautions

Not recommended in hepatobiliary disorders. Patients w/ congenital or documented QT prolongation; concomitantly treated w/ other QT interval prolonging drugs; w/ electrolyte disturbance particularly cases of hypokalaemia & hypomagnesemia; w/ clinically relevant bradycardia, cardiac arrhythmia or cardiac insufficiency. Hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.

Adverse Reactions

Mild GI discomfort (eg, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea); allergic skin reactions; possible transient elevations of ALT/GPT, AST/GOT & alkaline phosphatase.

Drug Interactions

May increase theophylline plasma conc. May elevate digoxin absorption. May increase terfenadine serum conc. QT-interval prolonging drugs eg, antiarrhythmics class IA & III, antipsychotics, antidepressants & fluoroquinolones.
