Savoy CoQMed Mechanism of Action

Savoy CoQMed Capsules are dietary/health supplement containing naturally fermented Coenzyme Q₁₀ which is also known as ubidecarenone, ubiquinone and coenzyme Q. It is commonly abbreviated to CoQ₁₀.
CoQ₁₀ is found throughout the body. Its ability to convert from a reduced to an oxidised state plays an important part in the metabolism of carbohydrates into energy at the cellular level. It is also the reason that CoQ₁₀ is able to act as an antioxidant. Tissues with the highest energy requirements (e.g. heart, liver, kidney, brain) also have the highest CoQ₁₀ requirements.
CoQ10 is an oil soluble compound. It is manufactured by the body but dietary intake of CoQ10 can be important to maintaining optimal CoQ10 levels especially when natural production is sub-optimal or if CoQ10 requirements are elevated such as in exercise.
Savoy CoQMed capsules are soft gelatin capsules containing naturally fermented CoQ₁₀ dispersed in sunflower seed oil to improve stability and aid absorption. The oily dispersion of CoQ₁₀ in sunflower seed oil is converted to an emulsion in the small intestine by bile acids prior to absorption. To increase the production of bile acids it is recommended to take the capsules with food or drink.
