As syrup: 7.5 mL (approx 1.5 teaspoons) tid. As powder for oral solution: 1 packet (dissolved in 4-6 ounces of hot or cold water) tid. Following the relief of symptoms, continue treatment for further 2-3 days to prevent relapse; however, treatment duration may not exceed 10 days. Dosage and treatment duration recommendations may vary among countries and individual products (refer to specific product guidelines). Child: 6-12 years As conventional tab or chewable tab: 1 tab bid. As oral drops: 1 mL (approx 20 drops) tid. As syrup: 5 mL (approx 1 teaspoon) tid. As powder for oral solution: 1 packet (dissolved in 4-6 ounces of hot or cold water) bid; ≥13 years As conventional tab, chewable tab, oral drops, syrup, or powder for oral solution: Same as adult dose. As powder for oral solution: Dissolve 1 packet in 4-6 ounces of hot or cold water.

Hypersensitivity. Severe renal and hepatic impairment.
|
Patient with persistent or chronic cough associated with asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or smoking; cough with excessive mucus. Use of pelargonium sidoides extract in children should be carefully considered due to potential risks and limited evidence on efficacy. Pregnancy and lactation.

Significant: Hepatotoxicity, including hepatitis or liver dysfunction of different origin. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions.
Gastrointestinal disorders: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, dysphagia, diarrhoea. Rarely, mild gum bleeding.
Respiratory, thoracic and mediastinal disorders: Rarely, mild epistaxis.

Patients must seek immediate medical attention if they experience the following: current symptoms worsen or persist for >7 days, severe sore throat that lasts for >2 days, fever worsens or lasts for >3 days, and cough that lasts for >7 days with rash/persistent headache.

Monitor for signs of liver dysfunction, clinical worsening, or occurrence of new symptoms (e.g. blood in the sputum, shortness of breath).

Description: Mechanism of Action: Pelargonium sidioides extract, a traditional medicine, is an extract prepared from the dried roots of Pelargonium sidoides (family Geraniaceae). It is comprised of several components, including tannins, gallic acid, gallocatechin, catechin, other polyphenols, and coumarins. Pelargonium sidioides extract decreases the duration and severity of symptoms associated with upper respiratory tract infections, including common cold.
