Loratadine and Pseudoephedrine are combined in this medicine.
Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine helps relieve symptoms of allergy, such as runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes, nose or throat.
Take Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
You may take this medicine with or without food.
Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine is available as an extended-release tablet and oral solution.
If you are taking the extended-release type of tablet (usually labelled as "ER"), swallow it whole. Do not divide, chew, or crush the tablet.
If you are taking the oral solution, use the measuring spoon or cup provided to measure your dose.
You may stop taking this medicine once you feel better or have no allergy symptoms.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
Alert your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- severe high blood pressure
- severe coronary artery disease (narrowing of the blood vessels of the heart)
- increased pressure in the eye
- inability to completely empty the bladder when urinating
- history of dysphagia (trouble swallowing)
- problems in the oesophagus
- narrowing or blockage of the intestines
as Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine may not be suitable for you.
Do not take Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine if you are currently taking or have taken a medicine that is used to treat depression known as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine in the last 14 days.
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- heart disease
- high blood pressure
- diabetes
- peptic ulcer (open sores in the lining of the stomach, small intestine, or lower food pipe)
- prostate enlargement
- thyroid problems
- liver disease
- kidney disease
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Be sure to check with your doctor or pharmacist before giving Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine to a child or the elderly. Children or elderly people may be more sensitive to the side effects.
If you are going to have certain laboratory tests (e.g. certain skin test or urine drug test), inform your doctor that you are taking this medicine.
Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine may cause drowsiness. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.
Other side effects include any of the following: difficulty sleeping, nervousness, headache, nausea, dry mouth, stomach discomfort, and indigestion.
Some side effects may need immediate medical help. Alert your doctor quickly if you experience any of the following:
- sudden onset of fever accompanied by reddening of the skin or many small bumps on the skin
- fits or seizures
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Do not take Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine if you are currently taking or have taken a medicine that is used to treat depression known as a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid, phenelzine and tranylcypromine in the last 14 days.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- medicines for high blood pressure e.g. methyldopa, reserpine
- digoxin (medicine for heart disease)
- ketoconazole (medicine to treat fungal infection)
- erythromycin (certain antibiotic)
- medicines that neutralise stomach acids e.g. cimetidine
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with Loratadine + Pseudoephedrine.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements, and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Protect the tablet from light.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
