CARE WHEN TAKING Brufen: Ibuprofen may be associated with a small increased risk of heart attack or stroke. Any risk is more likely with high doses (2400mg daily) or prolonged treatment. Do not exceed the recommended dose and duration.
The patient should talk to the doctor/pharmacist before starting Brufen if he/she has/is: Fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency. Brufen contains sucrose, which should be taken into consideration in patients with diabetes.
History of gastrointestinal bleeding and perforation.
Asthma, chronic rhinitis, heart, liver or kidney diseases, heart failure, uncontrolled high blood pressure (HBP), dehydration.
Taking medications for HBP, heart diseases and blood thinners.
As with other NSAIDS, Brufen can mask symptoms of underlying infections.
CONSULT THE DOCTOR if symptoms persist after several days of treatment, having taken too much Brufen, or if experiencing unusual symptoms including: Bloody/black tarry/pale stools, vomiting blood/dark particles (like coffee ground), unexpected wheezing, shortness of breath, skin rash, itching, bruising, racing heart, fluid retention (swollen ankles or passing less urine), stiff neck, headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, disorientation, unexplained stomachache, indigestion (e.g colds), yellowing of the eyes.
If the patient forgets a dose, take the next dose when needed. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Use in Pregnancy: Taking NSAIDs at about 20 weeks of pregnancy or later may harm the unborn baby.
