Phenylpropanolamine HCl, brompheniramine maleate.
Description
Each mL contains: Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride 6.25 mg, Brompheniramine Maleate 2.0 mg.
Each 5 mL (1 teaspoonful) contains: Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride 12.5 mg, Brompheniramine Maleate 4.0 mg.
Each tablet contains: Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride 15 mg, Brompheniramine Maleate 12 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Combined decongestant, Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride, and the antihistamine, Brompheniramine Maleate. The combination reduces the excessive nasopharyngeal secretion and diminishes inflammatory mucosal edema and congestion in the upper respiratory tract. The antihistaminic action of Brompheniramine Maleate reduces or abolishes the allergic response of nasal tissues. It is complemented by the mild vasoconstrictor action of Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride which provided a nasal decongestant effect.
Indications/Uses
Allergic and vasomotor or other hyperactive nasal disorders and acute coryza; relief of nasal congestion and hypersecretion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Drops-Infants: Up to 6 months: 0.5 mL.
7 months to 2 years: 1.0 mL.
To be given every 6 hours or as prescribed by the physician.
Syrup-Children: 1 to 6 months: ¼ tsp (1.25 mL).
7 months to 2 years: ½ tsp (2.5 mL).
2 to 4 years: ¾ tsp (3.75 mL).
4 to 12 years: 1 tsp (5.0 mL).
To be given every 6 hours or as prescribed by the physician.
Adults: 1 -2 tsp 5 to 10 mL every 6 to 8 hours or as prescribed by the physician.
Tablet: One tablet 3-4 times every 6 hours, or as prescribed by the physician.
Warnings
Zeditapp contains Phenylpropanolamine Hydrochloride (PPA) that should be taken by patients with the following health conditions: 1) High blood pressure, 2) toxic goiter, 3) benign prostatic hypertrophy, 4) heart rate irregularity, 5) glaucoma and 6) if taking antidepressants. Patients with heart rate disease and uncontrolled/untreated high blood pressure should consult the doctor prior to taking PPA.
Special Precautions
Brompheniramine Maleate is contraindicated in patients with known brain damage or epilepsy.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C. Store in a cool, dry place.
