Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Initially 50 mg once daily, may be increased to 100 mg daily as a single dose or in 2 divided doses.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Renal artery stenosis, renal or hepatic impairment; vol depletion, hyponatremia or severe CHF.
Special Precautions
Severe or continuing nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea that does not stop which may cause patient to lose too much water & may lead to low BP. Concomitant use w/ medicines, supplements, or salt substitutes that contain K; medicines for appetite control, asthma, colds, cough, hay fever, or sinus problems, & herbal or vit supplements. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Dizziness or lightheadedness may occur after 1st dose especially if patient has been taking diuretic. May affect ability to drive, use machines, or to do anything else that could be dangerous if patient is dizzy or not alert. Use effective form of birth control to keep from getting pregnant.
Adverse Reactions
Dizziness & dose-related orthostatic hypotension. Impaired renal function & rarely, rash, angioedema & raised liver enzyme values. Hyperkalaemia & myalgia. Resp tract disorders, back pain, GI disturbances, fatigue & neutropenia.
Drug Interactions
Hypotension in patients w/ vol depletion (eg, those who received high-dose diuretics).
