Indications/Uses
Musculoskeletal & joint disorders eg, ankylosing spondylitis, OA & RA including juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Dysmenorrhea, headache including migraine, post-op pain, soft-tissue disorders, acute gout. To reduce fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Rheumatic disorders 500 mg-1 g daily as single or in divided doses. Dysmenorrhea & acute musculoskeletal disorders Initially 500 mg followed by 250 mg every 6-8 hr. Acute gout 750 mg followed by 250 mg every 8 hr. Migraine 750 mg at the 1st symptom of an impending attack. Childn ≥2 yr Juvenile idiopathic arthritis 10 mg/kg daily in 2 divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately after meals.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to ASA or other NSAIDs. History of stroke, CVA; heart attack, MI; CABG; uncontrolled HTN; CHF (NYHA II-IV). Previous or active peptic ulceration.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ cardiac, liver & renal disease; HTN, infections, asthma or allergic disorders; impaired renal or hepatic function. Renal impairment CrCl <20 mL/min. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances eg, GI discomfort, nausea & diarrhea; peptic ulceration & severe GI bleeding.
