Description
This product is a creamish colored, hexagonal shaped film coated tablet, one side being scored and the other side being plain.
Each Tablet contains: Zinc USP 20 mg (eq. to 57.645 mg Zinc sulfate monohydrate).
Action
This medicine contains Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate an essential trace element required for human nutrition and correction of Zinc deficiency.
Indications/Uses
Contains Zinc which is essential for the correction of Zinc deficiency problems like growth retardation, decreased taste and smell, alopecia, dermatitis, diarrhea, immunological dysfunction, poor wound healing, gonadal atrophy, impair spermatogenesis and congenital malformation.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult dose, take one to three tablet daily orally or as recommended by the physician.
Missed dose: If the patient missed one dose, take it as soon as remembered and continue with the normal schedule.
Do not take more than the prescribed dose unless recommended by the physician.
Overdosage
Zinc Sulfate is corrosive in overdose. Symptoms are corrosion and inflammation of the mucous membrane of the mouth and stomach. In case of overdose, demulcents such as milk should be given and chelating agent ex. Sodium Edetate may be useful.
What to do when the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage: If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage, consult a physician or go to nearest emergency unit or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to Zinc, abdominal pain and gastrointestinal disturbances.
Special Precautions
Do not take more than the recommended dose unless prescribed by the physician.
Should be taken only when there is a good evidence of deficiency.
Consult a doctor if any undesirable effects occur.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy category C. Safety for use in pregnancy has not been established. Should be used under the direction of a physician during pregnancy and lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Abdominal pain, dyspepsia (indigestion or heartburn), stomach pain, vomiting have been observed.
Drug Interactions
Concurrent administration of Zinc may decrease the absorption of other drugs such as tetracycline antibiotics, bisphosphonates and quinolone antibiotics.
Foods may decrease absorption of this medicine into bloodstream.
Storage
Store at room temperatures below 30°C.
Store away from light and moisture.
