In animal studies, methotrexate has been reported to have teratogenic effects; therefore, the drug should not be administered in pregnant women or women of childbearing potential.
Because of the potential for severe adverse reactions in breast fed infants, methotrexate should not be used in nursing mothers. If the administration is necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
