Contents
Per tab Phenylpropanolamine HCl 25 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg. Per 5 mL syr Phenylpropanolamine HCl 12.5 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 1 mg. Per mL drops Phenylpropanolamine HCl 1 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 0.8 mg
Indications/Uses
Nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing & postnasal cold, common drip, sinusitis, rhinitis & vasomotor rhinitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Adult 1 tab 6-8 hrly. Childn 6-12 yr 1 tab 6 hrly; 2-5 yr ½ tab 6 hrly. Syr Childn 7-12 yr 5 mL; 2-6 yr 2.5 mL. To be taken tid-qid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hyperthyroidism, HTN, coronary disease, concurrent use w/in 2 wk of MAOIs, difficult urination due to prostate enlargement or bladder obstruction. Lower resp tract disease, brain damage, epilepsy.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ high BP, toxic goiter, BPH, irregular heart rate, patients taking antidepressants. Enhanced sedative effect of CNS depressants including alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, analgesics, sedatives & tranquilizers. Enhanced effect of anticholinergic drugs eg, atropine & TCAs.
Adverse Reactions
Drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, epileptiform seizures (large doses), skin rashes.
