Contents
Live attenuated measles vaccine
Indications/Uses
Active immunization against measles.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Single dose of 0.5 mL deep SC into anterolateral area of upper thigh in infants & upper arm in older childn.
Contraindications
History of anaphylactic reaction to any component of the vaccine or hypersensitivity to cow's milk; acute infectious diseases, leukemia, severe anaemia & other severe diseases of blood, severe renal impairment, decompensated heart disease; following administration of γ-globulin or blood transfusions. Severely immunocompromised. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions
Individuals receiving corticosteroids, other immuno-suppressive drugs or undergoing RT may not develop optimal immune response.
Adverse Reactions
Mild pain & tenderness at inj site; mild fever; rash.
Drug Interactions
Not to be given w/in 6 wk to 3 mth after inj of Ig or blood product containing Ig (blood, plasma) due to risk of inactivation. Ig should not be administered w/in 2 wk after measles vaccination. Tuberculin +ve individuals may become tuberculin -ve after vaccination.
