Description
Each Plaster contain: Ketoprofen 30 mg.
Action
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Topical application of Ketoprofen on the joints or muscles can increase the drug concentration at the target site as well as lower the concentration in the systemic circulation, thereby reducing stomach irritations and liver toxicity.
Indications/Uses
Traumatic inflammation of muscles, sprains and strains. Relief of symptoms of muscular pain.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults: Take off thin backing paper and apply to affected area twice daily, or upon advise of doctors.
Children: Not recommended as safety in children has not been established.
Contraindications
Ketoprofen plaster must not be used in patients with: patients with hypersensitivity to this drug; allergic reactions to any of the ingredient; history of photosensitivity reactions; third trimester of pregnancy; pathological skin changes such as eczema; or in infected skin or open wounds.
Special Precautions
It is recommended to protect areas by wearing clothing during all the application of the plaster and two weeks following its discontinuation to avoid the risk of photosensitization.
The plaster must not come into contact with mucous membrane or the eyes.
The recommended length (1 week) should not be exceeded due to the risk of developing contact dermatitis and photosensitivity reactions which increases over time.
Patients with asthma combined with chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, and/or nasal polyposis have a higher risk of allergy to aspirin and/or NSAIDs than the rest of the population.
Should a skin rash occur after plaster application, treatment must be stopped.
Areas of skin treated with Ketoprofen plaster should not be exposed to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light, either during treatment or for two weeks following treatment discontinuation, in order to avoid phototoxicity reactions and photoallergy.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: During the third trimester of pregnancy, all prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors including ketoprofen may induce cardiopulmonary and renal toxicity in the fetus. At the end of the pregnancy, prolonged bleeding time in both mother and child may occur. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may also delay labour. Therefore, ketoprofen is contraindicated during the last trimester of pregnancy.
Lactation: As safety of this drug has not been established in lactation.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 25°C.
