Indications/Uses
Treat & prevent clinical disorders secondary to mitochondrial dysfunction eg, fatty liver disease; drug-induced liver injury/muscle fatigue; cardiomyopathy; hyperthyroidism; acute & chronic hepatitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Cyanocobalamin: May produce hematologic response in patients w/ folate deficiency. Pyridoxine: Severe peripheral neuropathies (in large doses). Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Carnitine (large doses): GI disturbance eg, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea & abdominal cramps. Body odor.
Drug Interactions
Pyridoxine: Reduced effects of levodopa & altretamine. Decreases serum conc of phenobarb & phenytoin. Reduced GI absorption w/ neomycin, aminosalicylic acid, H2 antagonist & colchicine.
