Inactivated types 1, 2, 3 poliomyelitis vaccine: Type 1 (Mahoney) 29 DU, type 2 (MEF-I) 7 DU, type 3 (Saukett) 26 DU
Indications/Uses
Prevention of poliomyelitis in infants, childn & adults for primary vaccination & booster.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IM/SC Non-vaccinated adult 2 successive 0.5 mL inj at interval of 2 mth, followed by a booster dose 8-12 mth after the 1st inj. Childn 1 dose at the age of 2 mth & 1 dose at the age of 4 mth, followed by a booster dose at the age of 11 mth.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to poliomyelitis vaccine, neomycin, streptomycin, polymyxin B. Postpone vaccination in case of fever or acute disease.
Special Precautions
Blood disorders eg, thrombocytopenia or clotting disorder; taking treatment that suppresses immune defenses or presenting w/ an immune deficiency disorder (postpone vaccination). Present w/ chronic immunodeficiency eg, infection w/ AIDS virus (HIV). Do not inj intravascularly.
Adverse Reactions
Inj site pain, fever (≥38.1°C). Inj site redness.
