Halobetasol propionate is contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.
Tuberculosis of the skin, chicken pox, herpes simplex, measles, vaccinia, perioral dermatitis, acne rosacea, syphilitic skin lesions and untreated bacterial, fungal or viral skin lesions since application might result in flare-up of the existing infection. It is not recommended for acne vulgaris.
Safety and efficacy of Halobetasol propionate in children less than 12 years of age have not been established. Hence, it is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.
