0.9% Sodium Chloride is a solution of sodium chloride in water for injection. It is sterile, non-pyrogenic, clear, colorless to straw-colored and practically free from particles. It contains antimicrobial agents.
Each 100 ml contains: Sodium chloride 900 mg.
Electrolytes in 1000 ml: Sodium 154 mEq, Chloride 154 mEq.
The osmolarity is 308 mOsm/L. It has a pH ranging from 4.5 to 7.0.
Note: A 500 ml infusion is equivalent to intake of 4.5 g NaCl.
