Diclofenac diethylamine
Indications/Uses
Muscle & joint injuries (eg, sprains, strains, bruises, backache, sports injuries), tendonitis (eg, tennis elbow), swelling around elbow or knee, & mild arthritis of the knee or fingers in adults & adolescents ≥12 yr.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply bid (morning & evening) on the painful area.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs eg, ibuprofen or aspirin. Pregnancy (3rd trimester). Childn <12 yr.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if skin rash develops. Do not use for >2 wk. Do not apply to skin w/ conditions eg, cuts, open wounds, or skin w/ rash or eczema. Do not use in the mouth, do not swallow, & be careful not to get in the eyes. Do not use under airtight (plastic) bandages. Prolonged use. Contains propylene glycol, which may cause mild localized skin irritation, & butylhydroxytoluene, which may cause local skin reactions (eg, contact dermatitis) or irritation to the eyes & mucous membranes. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Skin rash w/ or w/o blisters; hives; wheezing, shortness of breath or feeling of tightness in the chest (asthma); swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat; itching or reddening of the skin. Skin may be more sensitive to sunlight (sun or tanning booth).
