Description
Capsule-shaped, light violet to pink film coated tablets, scored on one side and impressed with "+" on the left and "600" on the right of the score, smooth on the other.
CALVIN PLUS, film coated tablets, contains calcium, vitamin D and minerals.
Each film-coated tablet contains: Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3) 200 IU, Calcium (equivalent to 1,500 mg Calcium Carbonate) 600 mg, Magnesium (equivalent to 66.31 mg Magnesium Oxide) 40 mg, Zinc (equivalent to 9.34 mg Zinc Oxide) 7.5 mg, Manganese (equivalent to 5.54 mg Manganese Sulfate) 1.8 mg, Copper (equivalent to 1.25 mg Copper Oxide) 1 mg, Boron (equivalent to 2.2 mg Sodium Borate) 250 mcg.
Indications/Uses
CALVIN PLUS is used as prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, Calcium and Vitamin D deficiency states.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Take 1 tablet twice a day with food and a full glass of water or as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
What Should The Patient Do If A Dose Is Missed: Take the missed dose as soon as possible and then go back to the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for forgotten individual doses.
Overdosage
Signs And Symptoms Of Overdose: Constipation, headache, nausea, vomiting, kidney stones, anorexia, loss of appetite, alkalosis, milk-alkali syndrome, unusual weight loss, high level of calcium in the blood (hypercalcemia) and low level of phosphorus in the blood (hypophosphatemia).
What To Do When The Patient Has Taken More Than The Recommended Dosage: In case of accidental overdose or at the first sign of any adverse reaction, discontinue use and seek professional assistance immediately.
Contraindications
Avoid in people with known allergic to any component of the formulation.
Ask a doctor or pharmacist if this medicine is safe to use if the patient has kidney disease, heart disease, cancer, high levels of calcium in the blood, circulation problems or parathyroid gland disorder.
Ask a doctor before using this product if the patient is pregnant or breast-feeding.
Special Precautions
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by the doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended dose.
Tell each of the healthcare providers about all the medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines the patient uses.
When Should The Patient Consult A Doctor: If adverse health effects or overdose symptoms have occurred, the patient should discontinue this drug and consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Adverse Reactions
Constipation, bloating, gas, nausea, vomiting, high level of calcium in blood (hypercalcemia), excessive loss of calcium in urine (hypercalciuria) and kidney stone formation (nephrolithiasis) are common with calcium/vitamin D supplements.
Drug Interactions
Calcium supplements can interact with many prescription medicines, including dolutegravir, elvitegravir, antibiotics (fluoroquinolone, tetracycline antibiotics such as doxycycline, minocycline), bisphosphonates or levothyroxine. If the patient takes other medications, take them at least 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking calcium supplements.
Do not take the calcium supplement with a high-fiber meal.
Do not smoke cigarettes or cigars and do not drink large amounts of alcohol or caffeine.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
