Benzydamine hydrochloride.
Description
Clear solution with lemon or mint flavor.
Each mL contains: Benzydamine (as Hydrochloride) 3 mg.
Indications/Uses
Benzydamine hydrochloride spray works by stopping pain and swelling (inflammation). It is used to treat many painful conditions of the mouth or throat including: Mouth ulcers; Teething; Sore throat; Sore tongue or gums; Discomfort associated with dentures or dental work.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Always use Benzydamine hydrochloride exactly as instructed by the doctor or pharmacist. Check with the doctor or pharmacist if the patient is not sure.
Adults and children over 12 years of age: Spray 2-4 puffs, repeat every 2 to 3 hours if necessary but not more than stated.
Children 6-12 years of age: Spray 2 puffs to the sore area every 2 to 3 hours if necessary but not more than stated.
Children under 6 years of age: Spray 1 puff for every 4 kg of body weight, up to a maximum of 4 puffs, to the sore area every 1 1/2 to 3 hours.
Contact the doctor if the symptoms worsen or they do not improve.
How to use the spray: Open the cap. Twist the spray-tube until pointed to the mouth.
Spray into sore/inflamed area of the mouth or throat.
After spraying the desired number of puff, wipe the nozzle cleanly to prevent blockage.
Missed dose: Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Simply take the next dose as planned.
Overdosage
This product has no known cases of overdosage.
There is no specific antidote for benzydamine hydrochloride.
What to do when the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage: If the patient takes too much or the patient accidentally swallow large quantities of the medicine, contact immediately the doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Contraindications
Do not use if: The patient is allergic to Benzydamine hydrochloride.
The patient is allergic to any of the other ingredients of this product.
Special Precautions
Talk to the doctor, pharmacist before use.
Talk to the doctor or pharmacist if: The patient has a history of asthma.
If the patient is allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs.
Do not use spray in or near the eyes. If any spray gets in the eyes, wash them immediately with cold water.
When should the patient consult a doctor: If the patient has any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask the doctor or pharmacist.

Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility: If the patient is pregnant or breast-feeding, thinks the patient may be pregnant or is planning to have a baby, ask the doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Adverse Reactions
Like all medicines Benzydamine hydrochloride spray can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Some side effects could be serious. If the patient has any of the side effects listed as follows, see immediate medical help: Serious allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock), signs of which may include difficulty of breathing, chest pain or chest tightness, and/or feeling dizzy/faint, severe itching of the skin or raised lumps on the skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, and which may be potentially life-threatening.
Other side effects include the following, if they get serious, tell the doctor: Uncommon (affects 1 in 1,000 people): Numbness and/or singing in the mouth and/or throat.
Very rare (affects 1 in 1,000 people): Difficulty breathing and wheezing; Itching; Skin rash.
Not known (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): Skin redness or swelling; Allergic reaction (hypersensitivity).
Some people may react after using the product with a severe allergic reaction experiencing symptoms as described previously (a so-called anaphylactic reaction) which may be potentially life-threatening. In this case, the patient should seek immediate medical assistance.
Drug Interactions
Tell the doctor or pharmacist if the patient is taking, has recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Storage
Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
